- Some speculation by Amos Harel in Haaretz about the rolling up of the alleged Israeli spy network in Lebanon. Not a lot of hard information here but he raises some interesting points.
- I can no longer rant about the fact that Egypt is killing all its pigs despite having no cases of swine flu (which isn't caused by pigs anyway); it has found its first case. A 12-year old American girl arriving at Cairo airport. It's the first case on the African continent, but hardly suggests a pandemic in Egypt. Sorry about that, pigs.
- The ruling National Democratic Party is proposing revisions to increase the size of the People's Assembly to 500 (it's currently 454, 444 elected and 10 appointed), and to reserve 56 seats for women. Since the NDP has a dominant majority in Parliament it can pretty well guarantee passage.
- My linking to Marc Lynch, who has a lot more readers than I do at this point, is somewhat lame, but if you aren't reading him you should be, and so I should note his post yesterday about the recent quarrels between the Iraqi government and both Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. It's something I haven't taken the time to write about, and since he has, I don't have to.
