For Eastern Christians, a Very Merry Christmas!

For my readers who celebrate Christmas today and those Armenians who celebrated yesterday, best wishes and a Merry Christmas.

Thanks, Mike. Always nice to get a nativity scene where the personae look like they might actually belong in the Middle East. Your recent posting on Iraqi Christians was a fine summary of the origins and development of the Church of the East, but the art was the worst kind of bad twentieth century Iraqi impressions of stereotypically northern European representations of virgins and babes. (Not that I have anything against Celts, mind you, but I don't think the Irish can lay claim to blood kinship with the Holy Family.) On the other hand, the music in that and your other postings these Christmas seasons has always been worth a listen.
