May Day Turns Violent in Turkey

Today was May Day, and it proved to be a violent one in Istanbul, where police clashed with demonstrators seeking to reach Taksim Square, the focus of anti-government protests.  Unions marking the traditional workers; holiday reportedly joined other groups as part of the continuing wave of protests.
