An April 1 Quandary

I've been trying to come up with an April Fool's day post, and I'm stumped. Despite a grand old media tradition of Making Things Up on April 1 (the British press has a long and proud tradition in particular) it's hard to do on a Middle Eastern theme. Things are either too seriously depressing — you can't really joke about Gaza or Afghanistan or the Iraqi electoral stalemate — or else they defy parody. No satirist could come up with anything stranger than Qadhafi's 95-minute rant at the UN, or the Qadhafi and Donald Trump story, and the sand shortage in Saudi Arabia was a real story, as was the ongoing food fight over the world's largest hummus (round one; round two).

So I'm at a loss. If I find any good posts by others, I'll link.
